In the golden autumn of October, where National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival converge, Yunnan’s Stone Forest Scenic Area is gearing up to treat guests from home and abroad to a rich array of festive activities. With ethnic cultural performances, Hanfu parades, and a fascinating live show showcasing the Sani ethnic style, it fully displays the Sani ethnic culture to visitors, allowing them to immerse themselves in the Stone Forest way of life while enjoying the beauty of the scenery. On this day of universal celebration, every unexpected encounter is worthwhile!

At 9:00 AM on September 28th, the “Hanfu Flash Dance” event, celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival in 2023, will kick off at the entrance of the Stone Forest Scenic Area. From 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, a Mid-Autumn-themed cultural performance will take place at the Sun-Moon Plaza within the scenic area. The program will include performances such as Hanfu Show, Guanghan Palace, and May We All Live Long. The actors will invite the audience to participate in fun interactions like eating mooncakes, creating a joyful atmosphere for the Mid-Autumn Festival. In the afternoon, the Mid-Autumn Festival Hanfu Floral Parade will move to the blooming Naigu Stone Forest Scenic Area. Led by “Sister Chang’e”, a procession consisting of performers from the Stone Forest Art Troupe and members of local Hanfu associations will depart from the Naigu Stone Forest Visitor Center. They will pass through vast fields of Persian chrysanthemums, reaching the Ancient Linyaochi. Along the way, they will engage in interactive photo sessions with visitors, celebrating the joyous Mid-Autumn Festival together.

From September 29th to October 6th, the Stone Forest Scenic Area will present two daily performances of traditional ethnic dances and songs. The specific time slots are from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Spectacular programs like Joyful Songs of Auspiciousness, Me and My Motherland, and Dear Friends from Afar, Please Stay will be staged alternately. Visitors can also participate in interactive games to win prizes.

The Stone Forest in autumn is a picturesque place, with the coolness of early autumn permeating the mornings and evenings. The dense shade from summer has not yet faded, and the beautiful mountains and waters are a sight to behold. The joyful songs and lively Sanxian dance (three-stringed dance) of the Yi people add to the vibrant atmosphere. The Stone Forest Scenic Area is adorned with numerous green peaks and fluttering national flags, warmly welcoming guests from all over the world with a lively and festive atmosphere. The Naigu Stone Forest Scenic Area boasts a vast expanse of blooming Persian chrysanthemums, which create a romantic and enchanting autumn scenery when juxtaposed with the grand and solemn Black Stone Castle. The tranquil Long Lake, with its clear waters mirroring the endless sky, surrounded by lush grass and scenic mountains, provides an ideal setting for activities such as BBQ camping, hiking, and leisurely walks. As the flowers bloom and the moon shines round, it’s the best time to enjoy autumn and celebrate the National Day. The ticket prices for the Stone Forest Scenic Area are 130 yuan for adults and 65 yuan for students.

The ticket price for the Naigu Stone Forest Scenic Area is 25 yuan.

Transportation Guide

By Car

Self-driving route to Stone Forest Scenic Area: set your destination to “Stone Forest Scenic Area Parking Lot” on your navigation system. Drive along the Kunming-Shilin Highway and take the exit before the Stone Forest Scenic Area toll station. Continue for about 1 kilometer to reach the visitor center, which is approximately 2 kilometers away from the entrance of the scenic area. You can either take a sightseeing electric car or walk to the entrance.

Self-driving route to Naigu Stone Forest: from the Kunming-Shilin Highway, take the exit at the Stone Forest Scenic Area toll station and follow the signs towards the train station.

Self-driving route to Long Lake Scenic Area: after exiting the Kunming-Shilin Highway at the Stone Forest Scenic Area exit, drive along the Jiushia Travel Line to directly reach the Changhu Lake Scenic Area.

By Bus

Stone Forest Tourism Express Bus: departing from Kunming East Bus Station, it goes directly to the Stone Forest Scenic Area Parking Lot.

Stone Forest Bus: departing from Kunming East Bus Station, it goes to the Shilin County Bus Station.

Changshui Airport Express Bus: from Changshui Airport, the Changshui Airport Express Bus can take you to either Shilin County or the Stone Forest Scenic Area.

By Train

From Kunming South Railway Station (High-speed Railway Station) or Kunming Station (Nanyao Railway Station), it takes about 20 minutes to reach Shilin West Railway Station (High-speed Railway Station). From there, you can take bus No. 66 to Shilin County or bus No.99 to the Stone Forest Scenic Area.
