Stone Forest is classified into karst landform. “喀斯特” (Kasite) is the transliteration of German term “karst”. Karst is a place name of Istria Peninsula of Slovenia in Europe where limestone widespread. In the end of nineteenth century, scholar J. Cvijic made study on that grotesque limestone landform, and termed the landform as “Karst”in his publication “Karst Phenomena”. Since then, Karst became an international academic term referring to the dissolution process and morphological features occurred on carbonate rock. In China, “Karst ” is also called “Yanrong”(岩溶)。
